The story

Three years ago, the Core began to dim.

At the heart of the Spiral burns the Core, a knot of stars whose light reaches every world. Near the rim lie the Hearthworlds, colonies founded long ago by people who came on sleeper arks from a home they no longer remember.

Then the beacons that guide ships between the stars went dark one by one. Swarms poured out of the nebulae, ancient machines woke and opened fire, and the ships that flew toward the Core stopped coming back.

The Hearthworlds gathered their best pilots into one wing: the Dawnline. Your orders are simple. Relight the beacons, reach the Core, and find out what is putting out the light.

Welcome to the Dawnline, pilot. I’m Commander Vale, and you fly with my wing now.
Commander Ines Vale, Dawnline flight lead

How it plays

One thumb. A sky full of trouble.

  1. 01

    Drag to fly

Your starship follows your thumb and fires on its own, so your attention stays on dodging.

  2. 02

    Fire your special

Every starship carries one special on a cooldown, from Crescent Sweep to Sawblade Halo. Save it for the wave that needs it.

  3. 03

    Bring two drones

Equip two of ten drones. Some chase, some shield, some scavenge.

  4. 04

    Earn three stars

Each level has a star for Easy, Hard and Impossible. Bosses get harder, not just tougher.

Who you’ll meet

Seven factions, and none of them simple.

The things between you and the Core are frightened, hungry, loyal to old orders, or testing you. More than seventy kinds of enemy fly for them.

  • Hive enemy roster lined up over the Archipelago backdrop: insectoid swarm — beetles, stingers, dragonflies and a brood mother

    The Hive

Insect swarms that share one loose mind across many bodies. The Hive is not evil. It is frightened and hungry.

  • Raiders enemy roster lined up over the Dune Canyon backdrop: pirate gunships and fighters with magenta lights

    The Clans

Survivors of a broken ark, three hundred years in the Belt. They are people, not monsters.

  • Machines enemy roster lined up over the Ion Storm backdrop: saucers, turret drones and walkers with orange sensor eyes

    The Machines

The Old Ones’ wardens, still following their last order: let nothing reach the Core.

  • Bloom enemy roster lined up over the Lumen Jungle backdrop: violet flower-and-jellyfish organisms

    The Bloom

A living reef that grows on starlight, like a coral reef that bites.

  • Prism enemy roster lined up over the Ruined City backdrop: crystal obelisks, lenses and golden lantern shards

    The Prism

The Old Ones, turned to living light. They are not your enemy. They are your examiners.

  • Rime enemy roster lined up over the Frost Shelf backdrop: spiked ice crystals and snowflake drones

    The Rime

Thinking ice from the far side of the Rift.

  • Void enemy roster lined up over the Ringworks backdrop: ringed dark spheres and eye-like sentinels

    The Void

Things from beyond the Rift, drifting in through the thinning seal.

Bosses

Something enormous is waiting at the end of every sector.

  • Irisgate boss: an armoured octagonal gate with iris plates opening over a teal core

    Irisgate

An Old One vault-gate sealed around the Codex Shard.

  • Crucible boss: a grey industrial carrier with three hanging crucible pods

    Crucible

An Old One smelter rig with three crucibles of molten fire.

  • Chainwright boss: a rust-brown bell-shaped furnace swinging two chained maces

    Chainwright

The Chain Order’s temple, swinging burning censers.

  • Gloamlantern boss: a hanging lantern with a violet fan core, circled by small ghost flames

    Gloamlantern

A Clan beacon gone wrong in the Dimming.

  • Rimefall Engine boss: a hexagonal ice engine with four crystal pylons

    Rimefall Engine

An Old One weather satellite, frozen and turned to war.

  • Gravemaw boss: a toothed purple ring opening onto a green vortex

    Gravemaw

A living gravity well in a gas giant’s storm eye.

  • Wraithbell boss: a cracked teal bell hanging in a spectral halo

    Wraithbell

A spectral bell tolling over the Old Ones’ fallen fleet.

  • Pyrecrest boss: a blazing orange firebird with feathered wings

    Pyrecrest

A solar firebird chained inside the Magma Forge.

  • Aegis Starfort boss: a red-and-steel fortress with solar wings inside a hexagonal shield, ringed by three turrets

    Aegis Starfort

The star-fort that guards the Ring’s power, and so the seal.

  • Breaker Dreadnought boss: a wedge-shaped steel warship with three turrets and a drill prow

    Breaker Dreadnought

The Old Ones’ last war engine, rising from the Ruined City.

  • Twin Dynamos boss: two tethered dynamo spheres with fanned antennae

    Twin Dynamos

Two Old One generators that share one power core.

  • Terminus boss: a great clock-like ring with four shuttered nodes and a glowing pink hand

    Terminus

The gate that holds the Rift shut. It is exhausted.

The hangar

Each ship has its own role and its own special, and each one came from somewhere. Rank them up from C all the way to SSS.
